Inspired by inkle's adaptation of Steve Jackson's Sorcery! books, Fighting Fantasy fan Minh Trần Duy has created a digital 3D model of that infamous Kakhabadian den of thieves and monsters, Kharé, also known as the Cityport of Traps.
And while we're talking of traps, don't forget that Sunday 30th September is the deadline for entries in our Trial of Champions competition, which is the day after Ian Livingstone and Charlie Higson are appearing at the Bath Children's Literature Festival.

The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: Goblin Scourge Edition released on Nintendo Switch today!
It's the day gamers and Fighting Fantasy fans have been waiting for - Tin Man Games' update of The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: Goblin Scourge Edition is now available for Nintendo Switch, bringing some old school gamebook RPG action to one of the newest handheld consoles!
Inspired by the gamebook by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone - which is 36 this year! - the tunnels, caves and dungeons of Firetop Mountain have been massively expanded, appearing both familiar and new to die-hard fans of the Fighting Fantasy series.
This is a major achievement for the Tin Man team, as this release marks both their first time releasing on console and their first time releasing for Nintendo! The game looks beautiful and plays beautifully as well.
The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: Goblin Scourge Edition comes complete with all existing DLC and will include over a dozen unlockable hero characters. Each comes with a unique miniature, evoking the nostalgia of classic tabletop games.
For each character you take into the mountain, both story and combat will – of course – unfold in different ways. Different narrative options will unlock and you’ll enjoy the strategic challenge of a fresh set of attacks and abilities with each hero you play as.
And if you’re sick of fighting on the side of good, fear not! You can also play as one of Zagor’s evil minions – Slime Beast, Giant Rat, Skeleton Warrior and more – in a combat-heavy, story-light ‘Gauntlet’ game mode.
The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: Goblin Scourge Edition is available now, for £29.99 USD, from the Nintendo eShop. Zagor is looking forward to taking on the many new adventurers brave enough to enter his lair!

The Edifying Art of Les Edwards
Anyone who remembers Fighting Fantasy gamebooks from their original run with Puffin Books in the 1980s will already be familiar with the work of fantasy artist extraordinaire Les Edwards.
Les produced the cover art for no fewer than eleven titles, including such classics as Demons of the Deep, Daggers of Darkness and Return to Firetop Mountain.
When Wizard Books republished the Fighting Fantasy series in the new millennium, Les was asked to produce a new piece of cover art for Steve Jackson's House of Hell and Creature of Havoc.
He even got to revisit the artwork he originally produced for both Ian Livingstone's Caverns of the Snow Witch and Crypt of the Sorcerer.
“I enjoyed doing them,” Les said, when asked how his work for Fighting Fantasy differed from other illustration jobs. “I always liked using that kind of material as it wasn’t anywhere as commonplace as it is now. We seem to have Fantasy-like material wherever you look now.”
Les sold the original paintings of his FF art long ago, but you can still purchase prints of said pieces direct from his website.

He also produced the cover art for Keith Martin's two blood-sucker adventures, Vault of the Vampire and Revenge of the Vampire.
