Coming in 2024 from Unbound is Magic Realms: The Art of Fighting Fantasy, written by Sir Ian Livingstone and FF historian Jonathan Green.
The book focuses on the work of 26 artists, who have contributed art to the Fighting Fantasy series over the past four decades, across 25 chapters. Each chapter starts with a brief biography of the artist, followed by pages and pages of full colour and/or black & white artwork, along with some previously unseen sketches and other tidbits. There are also insights from the artists themselves into their work.
The book is currently seeking funding here and rewards on offer include signed hardbacks, a clamshell box edition, and a new A2 colour map of Allansia by Leo Hartas.
Sir Ian Livingstone joined industry veterans Marc Gascoigne (author of Titan, Out of the Pit, Battleblade Warrior, and much more), Dave Morris (co-author of The Keep of the Lich Lord), and James Wallis, to reminisce about the legend of fantasy art that was Russ Nicholson.
You can watch the discussion about his life and work, which was hosted by Inside the Rookery, below.
A week ago today, Sir Ian Livingstone attended the UK Games Expo 2023, signing copies of his Fighting Fantasy gamebooks for fans, including the hardback edition of Shadow of the Giants and his history of the first ten years of Games Workshop, Dice Men.

Fighting Fantasy was at the UK Games Expo again this year and one of the highlights of the weekend was the live readthrough of Sir Ian Livingstone's City of Thieves.
Olly Mc and a very enthusiastic audience guided John Robertson on a whistle-stop tour through Port Blacksand to a climactic duel with Zanbar Bone... which he promptly lost.
Hopefully the pair will be back next year for a runthrough of Deathtrap Dungeon, which will be celebrating its 40th birthday in 2024.
If you enjoy live readthroughs of your favourite Fighting Fantasy books, don't forget that Ken Boyter is currently tackling Sir Ian's Shadow of the Giants. Part 3 of his quest will commence at 6:00pm UK time tonight! You can catch up on Parts 1 and 2 via his Twitch channel.
The UK Games Expo 2023 starts today, and Sir Ian will be in attendance on the Friday*.
You will find him at Stand 2-T21 where you will be able to get your Fighting Fantasy gamebooks signed.
Also, on Saturday 3rd June 2023, Olly Mc of The Storymaster's Tales fame will be guiding John "The Dark Room" Robertson through the infamous City of Thieves* in the adventure's 40th anniversary year.
Terror stalks the night as Zanbar Bone and his bloodthirsty Moon Dogs hold the own of Silvertown to ransom. John Robertson's mission will take him to Port Blacksand's dark, twisting streets, where thieves, vagabonds and creatures of the night lie in wait as he tries to find Nicodemus. Beyond Port Blacksand lies the stronghold of the Night Prince Zanbar Bone.
Olly and John will be playing their way through City of Thieves on Saturday 3rd June at 5:00pm in the Hilton Pavilion.
* It had previsouly been advertised that Sir Ian would be attending on Saturday as well, but he is no longer able to for personal reasons.
