Sir Ian Livingstone on BBC Radio 4 Extra

You can hear Fighting Fantasy co-creator and co-founder of the Games Workshop Sir Ian Livingstone chatting to Toby Hadoke on BBC Radio 4 Extra this Saturday, 22nd February 2025, at 4:00pm.

Sir Ian will be sharing how he and Steve Jackson helped bring Dungeons and Dragons to the UK. He also be talking about his work in video games, launching titles like Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Hitman when he was chairman of Eidos PLC.

Magic Realms: The Art of Fighting Fantasy

Today sees the publication of the long awaited Magic Realms: The Art of Fighting Fantasy by Sir Ian Livingstone and Jonathan Green.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Green was on BBC Radio Somerset today, talking about the new book and the Fighting Fantasy series in general. You can listen to the 12 minute interview with Vicki Clark for the next 29 days here. The bit you want begins at the 2hr 16min mark.

Yesterday, the pair were signing books for those people who supported the book through Unbound. By the end of the day, Sir Ian had set a new record for the number of items signed in one day - a whooping 2,120! That's 850 books, 900 prints, 150 bookplates, and 220 copies of Shadow of the Giants! 

Sir Ian and Jonathan will also be signing Magic Realms: The Art of Fighting Fantasy at Fighting Fantasy Fest 5 on Saturday, while Sir Ian will be giving a talk at the Cartoon Museum, in Central London, on Tuesday 10th September.

Fighting Fantasy Guest Authors on BBC Radio 6 this Saturday

Fans of Fighting Fantasy gamebooks will want to tune in to BBC Radio 6 on Saturday morning, between 7:00am and 10:00am.

Rhianna Pratchett and Charlie Higson will be on Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie's show, talking about the titles they have contributed to the FF series in recent years.

The Gates of Death is CBBC's Book of the Month for May 2018!

Charlie Higson's new Fighting Fantasy gamebook, The Gates of Death, has garnered a lot of press coverage since it's release last month, along with five further classic titles by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone.

As well as being an Amazon bestseller, the book has been mentioned in The Guardian and The Metro, while Charlie was interviewed on BBC Radio 2 and ITV.

Pleasingly, news of the book has also been picked up by children's news media and has featured in The Week Junior as well as First News.
