The Dark Room is returning to Fighting Fantasy Fest

As anyone who attended Fighting Fantasy Fest 3 back in 2019 will tell you, one of the highlights of the day was a special performance of John Robertson's The Dark Room.

Well, we are delighted to be able to announce that The Dark Room will be making a return appearance at Fighting Fantasy Fest 5 this September.

If you're new to The Dark Room, check out the video below to find out more about this award-winning interactive show.

Not only will John Robertson be welcoming you back to The Dark Room at FFF5, he will also be undertaking the notorious 'Walk' through Deathtrap Dungeon, as dungeon designer extraordinaire Sir Ian Livingstone attempts to lead him to his doom.

A live reading of Deathtrap Dungeon wowed fans at this year's UK Games Expo and now you can experience it for yourself at Fighting Fantasy Fest 5. So don't delay - book your tickets today!

Delving into Deathtrap Dungeon

With the release of Branching Narrative's Deathtrap Dungeon: The Interactive Video Adventure this week, there are now more ways than ever to take on Baron Sukumvit's devious maze of misery.

If you're up to undertaking an epic quest, there's Nomad Games' Deathtrap Dungeon Trilogy, which is now available for the Nintendo Switch.

Like to game on the move? Then Tin Man Games' adaptation is for you.

If you're in the mood to simply listen to the story, rather than interact with the dungeon yourself, then there's the Fighting Fantasy audio drama Deathtrap Dungeon: The Last Champion, by David N. Smith.

Like it old school? Then there's this magical tome.

And tickets are still available for The StoryMaster's Tales Deathtrap Dungeon LIVE, which is happening at this year's UK Games Expo in Birmingham.

So, do you fancy taking a walk this weekend... through Deathtrap Dungeon?

What have been your Fighting Fantasy highlights of 2019?

As another year draws to a close on your Earthly Plane, it is traditionally a time for reflection. So what have been the highlights of your Fighting Fantasy year?

Was it Fighting Fantasy Fest 3, or The Forester of Doom Beer-o? Perhaps it was seeing the Fighting Fantasy Legends range released at long last by Atlantis Miniatures, or seeing Fighting Fantasy on BBC Click. Was it attending a performance of House of Hell LIVE, or meeting Steve Jackson or Ian Livingstone at an event? Perhaps it was seeing more Advanced Fighting Fantasy supplements released by Arion Games, or the publication of Ian Livingstone's new gamebook, Assassins of Allansia. Or was it the Deathtrap Dungeon Trilogy becoming available on Nintendo Switch? Perhaps some of the aforementioned Fighting Fantasy delights are awaiting you underneath your Christmas tree.

But if you think 2019 was a bumper year for FF releases, there's plenty to look forward to in 2020 too! The delivery of Atlantis Miniatures' Fighting Fantasy Legends Kickstarter. Board games from companies like PSC Games. Branching Narrative's own take on Deathtrap Dungeon. More releases for Advanced Fighting Fantasy and, who knows, maybe more gamebooks...

Deathtrap Dungeon is the gift that keeps on giving, and after the success of House of Hell LIVE at Fighting Fantasy Fest 3, The Storymaster's Tales are bringing Deathtrap Dungeon LIVE to the UK Games Expo in the summer.

All that there remains for me to do is to wish you a Merry Christmas and here's to a fantastic Fighting Fantasy New Year!
