The 12 Fighting Fantasy Days of Christmas - Day 8

Do you remember Rebel Planet, one of the most popular of the Fighting Fantasy science fiction titles?

Well, today, we can exclusively reveal that the gamebook's original author, Robin Waterfield, and series co-creator Ian Livingstone, have given permission for FF and gamebook superfan Mark Lain to turn the story into a graphic novel.

The artist taking on the art duties for this momentous project is none other than the adventure's original illustrator, Gary Mayes, who will be bringing the world of Rebel Planet to life in shimmering '80s monochrome!

The art in the graphic novel will all be new material and Gary will be producing a new colour cover for the book too. So set your hype-phasers to stun now, as the Kickstarter to fund production of the gamebook will be coming some time in 2021.

Watch this space for more news in the New Year...

Mark Lain is a regular attendee of the Fighting Fantasy: Virtual Beer-o and the next one is taking place on Wednesday 23rd December, from 7:45pm GMT, so you might be able to ask him more about the project then.

The Fighting Fantasy Fest 3 weekend is here!

The Fighting Fantasy Fest 3 weekend kicks off today with the You Are The Beer-o: The Forester of Doom meet-up. The FF pub quiz has sold out but you can still come along to The Forester on Leighton Road in West Ealing, and get to know your fellow adventurers a little better.

Doors open for Fighting Fantasy Fest 3 at 9:00am on Saturday 31st August. Remember, entry is by pre-purchased ticket only, but tickets will remain on sale until 8:00am on Saturday morning. All manner of books and games are being launched at the event, including Ian Livingstone's Assassins of Allansia, published by Scholastic Books, and this brand new miniature of the ruler of Port Blacksand, Lord Azzur himself, courtesy of Atlantis Miniatures!

And even after Fighting Fantasy Fest 3 is over, for anyone who still finds themselves in Ealing on Sunday, there will be an informal social gathering at The Castle Inn, on St Mary's Road (opposite the University of West London), from 12:00pm.

And if you are attending Fighting Fantasy Fest 3 this weekend, may your STAMINA never fail!

How well do you know Ian Livingstone's City of Thieves?

For those of you attending the Fighting Fantasy You Are The Beer-o Pub Quiz next week, we have some exciting news - Ian Livingstone himself will be joining us for the evening! Not only that, but as part of the night's proceedings he is going to run his own short quiz round, based on his classic gamebook, City of Thieves.

To enter this bonus round will require an additional £5 donation to our chosen charity, the UK Sepsis Trust.

However, if you win the round, you will not only receive a signed copy of Ian's new book, Assassins of Allansia, you will also receive a copy of the Brazilian edition of The Port of Peril, featuring new illustrations by Róger Goulart.

For those of you who haven't bought your tickets for the pub quiz yet, you had better hurry - there are only five left!

Fighting Fantasy Fest 3 - 60 Days to Go!

There are just 60 days to go until Fighting Fantasy Fest 3 takes over the University of West London in Ealing, on Saturday 31st August (which is not the Bank Holiday weekend, in case you were wondering).

As well as making sure you've got your tickets for the main event, don't forget your tickets for Steve Jackson's House of Hell LIVE, and the You Are The Beer-O Pub Quiz on the Friday night.

And don't forget - if you purchase your ticket before 1st August, you will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win 1 of 10 Fighting Fantasy Legends models, courtesy of Atlantis Miniatures!

YOU could be the Hero of the Fighting Fantasy Pub Quiz!

Do you know your Aardwolf from your Elvin? Can you tell the difference beween Quimmel Bone and Zanbar Bone? Are you a regular visitor to the teeming plains of Allansia and beyond? If so, then you should sign up for the second Fighting Fantasy Pub Quiz today!

On the evening of Friday 30th August, teams of budding adventurers will be gathering at The Forester Inn, in Ealing, to test their knowledge of all things Fighting Fantasy. Lone adventurers are welcome too, and will no doubt soon find themselves joining forces with a barbarian or two, and maybe even an elf, or a mage, well-versed in arcane lore.

Our Quizmaster for the evening will be Fighting Fantasy fan Bryan Howarth, and as well as having fun, we will also be raising money for the UK Sepsis Trust, in memory of another FF fan, Neil Taylor.

If you would like to come, remember, you do need to buy a ticket in advance and numbers are limited. The last FF Pub Quiz was a riotous affair and this year's event only promises to be even better!

You don't even need to be going to Fighting Fantasy Fest 3 the next day to come along! Although how much more fun would it be to make a weekend of it and do both? The Forester even has rooms available that weekend.

So don't put it off any longer, grab your ticket for the Fighting Fantasy Pub Quiz right now!

This is what happened last time.

You don't want to miss out this year, do you?

Fighting Fantasy Fest 3 & You Are The Beer-o present... The Forester of Doom!

Tickets are now on sale for the second ever dedicated Fighting Fantasy pub quiz. The first was held two years ago, on the eve of Fighting Fantasy Fest 2, and, continuing the tradition, The Forester of Doom meet-up will take place the night before Fighting Fantasy Fest 3, on Friday 30th August 2019.

This year all profits from the event are going to be donated to the UK Sepsis Trust, in memory of FF fan Neil Taylor, who attended the very first Fighting Fantasy Fest back in 2014 and who tragically passed away as a result of sepsis on 5th January.

The World's First Fighting Fantasy Pub Quiz

... is taking place one week today, on Friday 1 September, at the New Inn, Ealing.

The inaugural FF pub quiz is taking place as part of a special You Are The Beer-o pre-Fighting Fantasy Fest 2 meet-up and with the aim of raising as much money for Prostate Cancer UK as we can, in memory of original Freeway Fighter illustrator Kevin Bulmer.

To take part, you don't need to have an encyclopedic knowledge of Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, you just need to be up for a laugh. There will be picture rounds, a true and false round, and a round called 'Trail of Champions'. Teams of up to four may enter and can be arranged via the You Are The Beer-o: Stout of the Pit Facebook event page, or on the Fighting Fantasy (and other gamebooks) Facebook group page.

To find out more, and to book you ticket, follow this link.

And hopefully I'll see you next Friday!

The Legendary Adventurer's Backpack

There are now less than 7 weeks to go until Fighting Fantasy Fest 2, on Saturday 2nd September 2017!

Tickets will remain on sale until 8:00am on the morning of the event, one hour before doors open, but please remember, entry is only with a pre-purchased ticket. There will not be any ticket sales on the door.

The Adventurer's Backpacks, however, will not be on sale so long, because we need to get t-shirts made and for you to choose which size you would like.

As well as the t-shirt and the event-exclusive bag itself, the Adventurer's Backpack also includes an event-exclusive lanyard and tag, an A4 art print, and a Balthus Dire miniature made by Otherworld Miniatures.

Don't forget, if you are in or around Ealing on the night of Friday 1st September, why not come around to You Are The Beer-O: Stout of the Pit, the regular meet-up for FF fans hosted by James Aukett, and join us for the world's first ever Fighting Fantasy pub quiz?

You can buy your ticket for the pub quiz here, through Eventbrite, which is also where you can pre-order your Adventurer's Backpack.

Please note that, while Fighting Fantasy Fest 2 is suitable for all ages, the pub quiz is for over 18s only.

The Pub Quiz of Firetop Mountain

8 weeks today Fighting Fantasy Fest 2 will be taking place at the University of West London in Ealing!

If you are in or around Ealing on the night of Friday 1st September, why not come around to You Are The Beer-O: Stout of the Pit, the regular meet-up for FF fans hosted by James Aukett?

On this occasion, You Are The Beer-O is teaming up with Fighting Fantasy Fest 2 to put on the world's first Fighting Fantasy pub quiz and raise money for the men's health charity Prostate Cancer UK, in memory of artist Kevin Bulmer, who illustrated Freeway Fighter, and who sadly succumbed to the disease in 2011.
