Fighting Fantasy Quest: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain coming to Gamefound soon!

Today, the Warlock has exciting news regarding Fighting Fantasy Quest: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain.

The forthcoming board game adapts the iconic 1982 gamebook, by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone, into a cooperative dungeon crawler board game for 1-4 players, preserving the core ideas that defined the original adventure - choice, consequence, risk, and discovery - while transforming the journey into a shared experience at the table.

Crowdfunding for the project begins on 10th February 2026.

To help bring the game to the North American market, Ulisses Spiele is partnering with Goodman Games, a leading publisher of old-school roleplaying games. Best known for Dungeon Crawl Classics, there’s no better team to bring this game to market. “Goodman Games fans love old-school fantasy adventure, and Fighting Fantasy is perfect for all of us. We’re excited to partner with Ulisses Spiele to bring this fun fantasy adventure board game to even more fans in North America,” said Joe Goodman.

Ulisses Spiele will also be partnering with Scriptarium to bring the game to the French-speaking market. “We are quite excited about our new partnerships helping us to not only reach a global audience but work with companies that understand the essence of what our games are about. Our adventuring party just got much stronger!” said Jan Wagner of Ulisses Spiele.

With English, German, and French versions of the game and strong international partnerships, Fighting Fantasy Quest: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is sure to bring the beloved adventure to fans across the globe when it launches on Gamefound on 10th February.

Ulisses Spiele is an international publisher of tabletop roleplaying and board games, focused on delivering strong worlds and adventuring experiences rooted in player choice. The company is a key player in the German-speaking tabletop market, renowned for its deep fantasy world the Dark Eye and bridging the gap between German and international gaming communities by publishing and distributing a wide array of fantasy and sci-fi role-playing and board games.

However, please note that Sir Ian will only be attending on the Saturday and the Sunday, while Jonathan will be there for all three days.

In other exciting news, another of the Special Guests attending the event is the American-born games designer Steve Jackson - author of Scorpion Swamp, Demons of the Deep and Robot Commando, and the man who will be bringing Fighting Fantasy back to the US later this year. Talking of which, the first five books are now available to pre-order from Steve Jackson Games.

Others in attendance at the UK Games Expo include representatives of Martin Wallace Games, who are currently putting the finishing touches to Fighting Fantasy Adventures, All Rolled Up, who are going to be selling the first in an extended range of FF-themed products, Dan Jack of Blue Giant Studios, who produce the official Fighting Fantasy Legends miniatures range, and Oscar Carlquist of Sound Realms, publishers of the updated Steve Jackson's F.I.S.T. audio adventure.

Joining Sir Ian and Jonathan on the Fighting Fantasy stand will be Paul Toderas from Germany games company Ulisses Spiele. He will be demoing the company's new Fighting Fantasy Quest - The Warlock of Firetop Mountain board game, so why not stop by Stand 2-359 and try it out yourself?

Ian Livingstone's Market Mayhem

During these testing times, many people are finding solace in gamebooks as well as traditional board games. However, museums and other similar places are suffering because they have been forced to close.

Market Mayhem is a Fighting Fantasy role-playing board game adventure for 3-14 players. It was designed by Ian Livingstone and first published in Issue #3 of Warlock magazine. FF fan Kevin Abbotts has prepared a print-and-play version of the game, which Ian has made available for you to play with your family or friends.

To find out more, visit the Market Mayhem page on the Fighting Fantasy website. There is no charge, however, we would ask instead that you make a charitable donation to the emergency appeal to save the National Videogame Museum.
