Steve Jackson's Sorcery! is coming to Nintendo Switch!

Inkle, the developer behind the superb digital adaptation of the Steve Jackson's Sorcery! series, will be bringing the game(s) to Nintendo Switch later this year.

Here's what Eurogamer.net had to say about the Sorcery! games:
"Jackson's source material - a four-part spin-off of the Fighting Fantasy series - is still a delight, and Inkle gives the adaptation's predominantly text-based choose-your-own-adventure proceedings a real sense of presence, through some satisfyingly chunky map exploration, enhanced combat, and other nifty tricks."

And here's what PocketGamer.com thought:
"Beautifully realised and with a compelling if familiar narrative... this gripping tale has us well and truly hooked."

While Inkle originally released the four-part epic in installments, the Switch version, which is being handled by Polish publisher No Gravity Games, will include all four chapters in a single package.

Sorcery! Parts 1-4, as the game will be known on Switch, is due to arrive in the third quarter this year.

An epic adventure through an open world of monsters, traps and magic. Infiltrate the Fortress of Sorcerers, and create your own unique story where every decision you make is remembered, no matter how small. Cheat death, uncover ancient mysteries, and recover the Crown of Kings – if you can. Spanning four interconnected games, players weave their own unique tale of adventure, daring, luck and cunning from a million words of dynamic content and tens of thousands of decisions. Each part can be played separately, or strung together, with consequences of decisions that span the whole series.

What do you get the adventurer who has everything?

On the Earthly Plane, the festive season has arrived and the passing days are creeping ever closer to the Feast of the Nativity. Doubtless your mind has turned to the buying and receiving of gifts, but what can you give the Fighting Fantasy fan in your life this Christmas?

How about Nomad Games' Deathtrap Dungeon Trilogy on Switch?

Or how about one of the new Fighting Fantasy releases from Scholastic Books, including Ian Livingstone's new gamebook, Assassins of Allansia?

What about a late pledge to Dice Men, the history of the first ten years of Games Workshop, the company co-founded by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone, ready for next Christmas?

Or maybe a copy of Jonathan Green's history of the FF phenomenon, YOU ARE THE HERO?

But if you really want to give your favourite FF adventurer a truly unique gift, and support a worthy charity in the process, you could bid to win The Ian Livingstone CBE experience of Deathtrap Dungeon.

You (or another FF fan) could get to play the new video game of Deathtrap Dungeon between 4.30pm and 6.30pm on 30th January 2020 with Ian Livingstone CBE.

This is the version of the game being developed by Branching Narrative, and stars British actor Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan, Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw, Deadpool 2), who will act as the narrator in the game and guide in a high-quality interactive video production that faithfully recreates the beloved fantasy book.

Branching Narrative’s Deathtrap Dungeon will be delivered as a video stream that prompts the user to make choices and direct the flow, and should offer enhanced gameplay over other ‘interactive movie’ type games, fully utilising the mechanics from the book.

Please note, if the person playing the game is under 18, they will need to be accompanied by an adult (someone over 18) to take part in The Ian Livingstone CBE experience of Deathtrap Dungeon.

But don't delay, there isn't much time left...

The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: Goblin Scourge Edition released on Nintendo Switch today!

It's the day gamers and Fighting Fantasy fans have been waiting for - Tin Man Games' update of The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: Goblin Scourge Edition is now available for Nintendo Switch, bringing some old school gamebook RPG action to one of the newest handheld consoles!

Inspired by the gamebook by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone - which is 36 this year! - the tunnels, caves and dungeons of Firetop Mountain have been massively expanded, appearing both familiar and new to die-hard fans of the Fighting Fantasy series.

This is a major achievement for the Tin Man team, as this release marks both their first time releasing on console and their first time releasing for Nintendo! The game looks beautiful and plays beautifully as well.

It even features Russ Nicholson's classic art from the original edition of the gamebook.

The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: Goblin Scourge Edition comes complete with all existing DLC and will include over a dozen unlockable hero characters. Each comes with a unique miniature, evoking the nostalgia of classic tabletop games.

For each character you take into the mountain, both story and combat will – of course – unfold in different ways. Different narrative options will unlock and you’ll enjoy the strategic challenge of a fresh set of attacks and abilities with each hero you play as.

And if you’re sick of fighting on the side of good, fear not! You can also play as one of Zagor’s evil minions – Slime Beast, Giant Rat, Skeleton Warrior and more – in a combat-heavy, story-light ‘Gauntlet’ game mode.

The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: Goblin Scourge Edition is available now, for £29.99 USD, from the Nintendo eShop. Zagor is looking forward to taking on the many new adventurers brave enough to enter his lair!
