Fighting Fantasy Legends launch at Fighting Fantasy Fest 3!

Atlantis Miniatures' new range of Fighting Fantasy Legends models will launch at Fighting Fantasy Fest 3 on Saturday 31st August, at the University of West London in Ealing. The very first run of miniatures will be on sale on the day. And if you buy your ticket for the event before 1st August, you will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win 1 of 10 FF Legends miniatures!

You will also be able to pick up Ian Livingstone's brand new Fighting Fantasy gamebook, Assassins of Allansia, which will also be available in a very limited edition hardback at the event.

Ian will be joined by Steve Jackson, artist Russ Nicholson, and original commissioning editor Geraldine Cooke to talk about how The Warlock of Firetop Mountain came to be, as part of a series of talks and panels taking place throughout the day at Fighting Fantasy Fest 3.

Geraldine Cooke to attend Fighting Fantasy Fest 3

For many Fighting Fantasy fans, she is a legend in her own lifetime, and without her Fighting Fantasy gamebooks would probably have never existed.

She is Geraldine Cooke, the commissioning editor at Penguin Books who saw the potential in The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, and we are delighted to report that Geraldine will be attending Fighting Fantasy Fest 3 on Saturday 31st August, at the University of West London in Ealing.

Geraldine will join Steve Jackson, Ian Livingstone, and Russ Nicholson, for a panel about how the seminal The Warlock of Firetop Mountain came to be.

Please note - unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, Ian Miller is no longer able to attend Fighting Fantasy Fest 3.

Fighting Fantasy Fest... two years on...

Two years ago today, the first Fighting Fantasy Fest was held at the Double Tree Hilton in Ealing.

As well as featuring Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone as guests of honour, a veritable artists' gallery of illustrators were in attendance, and even other series authors made a brief appearance, as well as the original commissioning editor Geraldine Cooke, and the series' first desk editor Philippa Dickinson. YOU ARE THE HERO - A History of Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks was launched at the event and there was even an auction of rare Fighting Fantasy memorabilia.

Will there be another Fighting Fantasy Fest? Well, 2017 would seem like a good time to hold one, since August will see the 35th anniversary of the publication of The Warlock of Firetop Mountain.

Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks also received a mention on the BBC technology programme Click at the weekend during a piece on games in education, which included an interview with co-creator of the FF phenomenon, Ian Livingstone. You can watch it for yourself (as long as you have a TV licence) here.

Ian will also be appearing at Play Expo Manchester on Saturday 8th October, giving a talk about his time in the games industry entitled Life is a Game. If you're in the area, or able to travel up for the weekend, why not drop by and join in the fun?
