Fighting Fantasy Fest 6 - Tickets on sale now!

Tickets for Fighting Fantasy Fest 6 are now on sale.

Sir Ian Livingstone will be our Guest of Honour this year, and other confirmed guests include FF artists Malcolm Barter, Alan Langford and Tony Hough, and authors Marc Gascoigne, Jamie Thomson, and Jonathan Green, with more still to be confirmed.

Tickets are also on sale for the charity pub quiz which takes place the evening before Fighting Fantasy Fest. This year, it has the title City Pub of Thieves, since it is the fifth such quiz to be held.

Numbers for both events are limited so, don't delay and buy your tickets today!

Fighting Fantasy Fest 5 - one week to go!

Fighting Fantasy Fest 5 will open the doors of Deathtrap Dungeon one week today, at 9:00am on Saturday 7th September 2024.

As well as our Guests of Honour, Sir Ian Livingstone and Iain McCaig, and our other guests - Geraldine Cooke, Malcolm Barter, Alan Langford, Duncan Smith, Tony Hough, Marc Gascoigne, Jamie Thomson, Peter Darvill-Evans, Paul Mason, Steve Williams, Dave Morris, Keith P. Phillips, and Jonathan Green - we will also be joined by a host of traders.

One last minute addition to the roster is Other World Gamebooks, Polish publisher of Storm Weavers.

Storm Weavers is a story-driven solo tabletop game - a unique combination of a classic gamebook with an element of tactical combat taking place on the board. As a dwarven warrior, you undertake a journey across the vast land of Midgard to find and rescue your friend. To achieve your goal you must overcome a sinister adversity. As you travel from location to location, you have to face strong orcs, clever goblins, bloodthirsty wolves, ice giants, almigthy gods, cowardly wizards, greedy merchants, bad people, good people... can they stop you from reaching your goal?

Other World Gamebooks have also published the new edition of Heart of Ice by Dave Morris, who will be attending Fighting Fantasy Fest for the first time this year.

International Gamebook Day 2023

International Gamebook Day 2023 is taking place tomorrow, on Saturday 14 October, and Fighting Fantasy co-creator Sir Ian Livingstone will be the Guest of Honour!

Sir Ian's interview will go live at 7:00pm BST and the whole schedule for the day can be viewed here.

In other news, Sir Ian is in Paris today, Friday 13 October, signing copies of the French language edition of Dice Men at the French Wargame Café from 6:00-8:30pm, and at the Folies d'Encre bookstore in Montreuil from 11:00am-1:00pm on Saturday 14 October.

Russ Nicholson to attend Fighting Fantasy Fest 3!

We are delighted to report that legendary gamebook illustrator Russ Nicholson will be attending Fighting Fantasy Fest 3 in August!*

This means that the original creative team behind The Warlock of Firetop Mountain will be reunited at the event, as Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone are Guests of Honour on the day too.

Russ will be joining fellow artists Duncan Smith, Malcolm Barter, Alan Langford, Tony Hough, Pete Knifton, and Robert Ball. Intercept Studios will also be in attendance, selling prints of Terry Oakes' painted Fighting Fantasy cover art.

100 days to go until Fighting Fantasy Fest 2

There are just 100 days left to go until Fighting Fantasy Fest 2 opens its doors to fans on Saturday 2nd September, at the University of West London in Ealing.

A large number of guests have already been confirmed for the event, including Guests of Honour Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone and one-time FF consultant editor, gamebook author and novelist Marc Gascoigne. And now we ready to announce some of the traders who will also be attending.


Arion Games - publishers of the Advanced Fighting Fantasy RPG (2nd edition) will be running games throughout the day for anyone to drop in and enjoy, as well as selling their many and varied AFF prodcuts.

Fighting Fantasy Collector - Jamie Fry will be in attendance, selling signed books and hard-to-find items of Fighting Fantasy memorabilia.

inkle Studios - creators of the popular Steve Jackson's Sorcery! apps (and the critically-acclaimed 80 Days), inkle will be talking about bringing the legendary gamebook quartet to the small, hand-held screen, as well as demoing their games.

Nomad Games - in a Fighting Fantasy Fest exclusive, Nomad Games (creators of the Games Workshop-licensed Talisman games) will be showcasing their new game Fighting Fantasy Legends for the first time at Fighting Fantasy Fest 2.

Titan Comics - publishers of Ian Livingstone's Freeway Fighter (as well as Doctor Who, Assassin's Creed, Dark Souls, Warhammer 40,000 and Anno Dracula comics) will be in attendance, accompanied by the creative team behind this year's most anticipated new monthly comic release.

First guests confirmed for Fighting Fantasy Fest 2

With 20 weeks to go until Fighting Fantasy Fest 2, it seems timely to announce some of the guests who have confirmed their attendance*.

Guests of Honour

Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone will be in attendance at the event, talking about the Fighting Fantasy series, which will be celebrating its 35th anniversary at the even. Ian will also be signing his new book Port of Peril as well as the Freeway Fighter Comic.


Artists

Russ Nicholson - one of the artists that really helped define the look of the Fighting Fantasy world, Russ illustrated eight FF gamebooks, including the seminal The Warlock of Firetop Mountain. He also illustrated all of the FF novels, the young FF Goldhawk series, and two of the three original AFF books. More recently he contributed extra illustrations to Tin Man Games' adaptation of Warlock.

Alan Langford - the illustrator of six FF gamebooks, including Island of the Lizard King and Creature of Havoc, Fighting Fantasy Fest 2 will be Alan's first convention.

Tony Hough - the illustrator of four FF gamebooks, including Night Dragon and Bloodbones, Tony was also a guest at the first Fighting Fantasy Fest.

Jim Burns - the artist behind the covers of not one, but two different editions of Freeway Fighter. Jim's classic 'red corvette' cover has also been used as a cover variant for the Freeway Fighter Comic.


Authors

Peter Darvill-Evans - author of three FF gamebooks, including Beneath Nightmare Castle and Spectral Stalkers, Peter was responsible for starting Virgin Publishing's Doctor Who New Adventures line of tie-in novels, after the popular TV show went off air in 1989.

Jamie Thomson - co-author of three FF gamebooks, including Talisman of Death and Sword of the Samurai, Jamie was the winner of the Roald Dahl Funny Prize 2012 for the novel Dark Lord: The Teenage Years.

Jonathan Green - author of seven FF gamebooks and YOU ARE THE HERO - A History of Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks, Parts 1 and 2.
