Fighting Fantasy at the UK Games Expo 2025

Fighting Fantasy will have a significant presence at the UK Games Expo this year. The event is on from Friday 30th May - Sunday 1st June 2025 at the NEC, just outside Birmingham, and you will find the Fighting Fantasy crew at Stand 2-359 in Hall 2.

Fighting Fantasy - Stand 2-359

As you can see from the plan of Hall 2, Sir Ian Livingstone will be in attendance, as will FF author and historian Jonathan Green, who collaborated on Magic Realms: The Art of Fighting Fantasy. However, please note that Sir Ian will only be attending on the Saturday and the Sunday, while Jonathan will be there for all three days.

In other exciting news, another of the Special Guests attending the event is the American-born games designer Steve Jackson - author of Scorpion Swamp, Demons of the Deep and Robot Commando, and the man who will be bringing Fighting Fantasy back to the US later this year. Talking of which, the first five books are now available to pre-order from Steve Jackson Games.

Others in attendance at the UK Games Expo include representatives of Martin Wallace Games, who are currently putting the finishing touches to Fighting Fantasy Adventures, All Rolled Up, who are going to be selling the first in an extended range of FF-themed products, Dan Jack of Blue Giant Studios, who produce the official Fighting Fantasy Legends miniatures range, and Oscar Carlquist of Sound Realms, publishers of the updated Steve Jackson's F.I.S.T. audio adventure.

Joining Sir Ian and Jonathan on the Fighting Fantasy stand will be Paul Toderas from Germany games company Ulisses Spiele. He will be demoing the company's new Fighting Fantasy Quest - The Warlock of Firetop Mountain board game, so why not stop by Stand 2-359 and try it out yourself?

Lastly, Sir Ian will be giving a talk about his 50 Years in Games, on Saturday 31st May, from 3:00-4:00pm, on Stage B in Hall 4.

If you are going to the UK Games Expo this year, may your STAMINA never fail!

Fighting Fantasy Adventures Update

There is exciting news from Wallace Designs in Australia. Fighting Fantasy Adventures, the solo and co-op adventure game based on the iconic Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks, has gone to press.

All the necessary files have been sent to the printer and they will now create a sample for the designers to carry out their final checks. Once that has been done, the game will move to production.

This means that hopefully everything will be ready before the end of April. Taking into account the time required to ship the product from the factory and then for fulfilment to take place, it looks like the game will be ready roughly six months later than originally planned. However, given how much the scope of the project changed in terms of art, this delay is both understandable and will be worth it.

The boxed game of Fighting Fantasy Adventures will also include the Journal - a 32 page booklet containing lots of game art and room for your notes. It will also contain a brief history of Fighting Fantasy, as well as the history of how Fighting Fantasy Adventures came to be, and all of the character stories that have been published during the Gamefound campaign.

Wishing you a very Merry Fighting Fantasy Christmas

After all the excitement of Fighting Fantasy's anniversary year in 2022, by comparison 2023 has been a little quieter. Nonetheless, we have still celebrated the 40th anniversary of five Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, new editions of FF adventures have appeared in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, FranceItaly, and Denmark, and the Fighting Fantasy Adventures card game funded on Gamefound.

Click on the image above to place a late pledge.

As well as all the highs, there was one very poignant low in 2023, and that was the passing of FF legend Russ Nicholson, the artist who gave Zagor the Warlock his iconic look.

There is lots to look forward to next year, including the publication of YOU ARE THE HERO: An Interactive History of Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks and MAGIC REALMS: The Art of Fighting Fantasy, more from Arion Games and The Warlock Returns, Fighting Fantasy Fest 5 in the autumn, and the return of Steve Jackson's F.I.S.T.!

Happy Holidays!
